Burnishing Vinyl Floors

Floor burnishing is done with a rotary machine that has a pad turning speed of more than 1000 rpm but more commonly done at 1500 to 2000 rpm.

Always start the burnisher in a leaned back position so the pad is not touching the floor. Remember to watch for the color change in the map bucket. Besides being heavier the engines in burnishers are more complex to produce higher speeds. Because burnishing abrasively removes the film you run the risk of prematurely damaging or wearing out floor tile without applying an adequate number of coats of finish.

First it makes floor finish shine but more important it makes the floor easier to keep clean. Remove any stuck on material such as gum tar or stickers from the floor with a putty knife.
